People say that blondes have more fun - but their fair hair colour is also very susceptible to damage or discoloration when out in the elements... which isn't very enjoyable. So how do you protect your blonde hair against everything Mother Nature has to offer in winter?
Before you head outside
Aussies know that just because the temperatures are cooler now, it doesn't mean that the dangers of the sun have gone. Over-exposure to the sun (even in winter!) and cooler elements can cause your precious blonde hues to fade, and the hair fibre to become weakened. The result: limp and lackluster dull hair. Make sure your hair is ready by applying a protective spray before exposure outside, much like you would a heat protectant before styling. The spray is a leave-in treatment that can be spritzed over damp or dry hair to provide excellent sun protection thanks to the UV absorbing formula containing Tocopherol & Panthenol.
After a day out and about
Wash out a day's worth of buildup, including salt, sand and chlorine by using the Nutrifier Shampoo , which restores hair after the drying effects of the sun and harsh winter elements, and infuses it with Glycerol and Coconut Oil in a lightweight texture - so you can get back out there with glossy, healthy hair! If your locks are feeling particularly weathered, a regular mask can do the world of good. We also recommend the Nutrifier Masque , the equivalent of after-sun care for hair. Creamy and luxurious, this balm provides intense nourishment for parched hair.
What to watch out for
If you've swapped the beach for the indoor pool this winter, blondes must be particularly careful about colour fade-out and discolouration. The traces of metal in pools' purification filters – copper in particular - can sometimes cause blonde hair to turn a tinge of green. To avoid this, wet your hair with clean water before diving in the pool, and take a good shower (ideally with shampoo) as soon as possible afterwards to prevent deposits building up.
