The Banana Bun: 2017's answer for the easiest hair style ever?

It's official – Aussie hairstyles are looking a little fruity this year, with the banana bun being the latest hair trend to catch our eye!

Why we love them

Easy to create, casual and effortlessly cool. What's not to love? Our French girl friends have inspired this trend, with many aiming for a more sophisticated version of dishevelled 'bed hair' to update their daytime looks. The name 'banana bun' comes from the shape of this style, usually featuring a long curved roll of hair.

The style

Banana buns might be popular with celebrities right now – but that doesn't mean they are hard to achieve! Quite the opposite in fact. A banana bun takes only a few minutes to do, and involves a low slung rolled bun that sits near the nape of your neck. It's an updated version of the French twist, but much lower and looser.

Get the look

Starting with 2nd day hair is better than freshly washed for this style. Simply roll up your hair, set with some bobby pins, and you're set with your very own banana bun! To make sure your style sticks, try scrunching some hairspray into your roots before pinning. This will add some volume and extra hold to your style.

Let's look at 3 more ways to wear the banana bun, from Instagram:
