Even though 2017 has featured some pretty fashion forward hair trends so far, there is one style appearing on runways that is throwing back in a big way – the vintage hair roll!
There are no secrets here. A hair roll is exactly what it sounds like – a tube of hair rolled around itself to create a roll-like shape. The roll can be stark and cylindrical, or a little more relaxed, but either way it screams vintage sophistication!
A hair roll can be worn on the on the top of your head along your hairline, down the back at the nape of your neck, or even along the sides of your head. With such versatility, it's the perfect hair party trick to have in your style arsenal!
So how do you achieve this va va voom glamorous look?
Start with day 2 hair (not freshly washed). Apply a good dollop of mousse to the part of hair you are planning to roll. We recommend the L'Oréal Professionnel by Tecni.Art to give your hair that extra bit of a boost!
Divide the hair into two sections – one to be the outward facing part of the roll, and one for the inner. Slightly tease the inner hair to give it a little more volume, and then take sections of inner hair and roll them one by one around your index finger loosely. Secure in place with bobby pins as you go. Spray with holding hairspray like by Tecni.Art to make sure your roll doesn't unroll!
Repeat the process with the outward facing hair, and spray again with hairspray to finish the look.
Don't overthink your makeup and accessories with this style - the rockabilly roll pairs perfectly with a simple red lip or defined cat eye.
