How To Tame Flyaways

There's nothing worse than spending a good 20 minutes styling your hair to perfection only to glance in the mirror on your way out the door and see your 'do has become flyaway-central! Here are a few of our favourite hair prep and styling tricks to get those pesky flyaways under control once and for all.

Nourish your hair

Dehydrated locks are more prone to frizz than well-conditioned, healthy hair. Bottom line? Your locks must be in top notch condition! Use a good dollop of conditioner every time you wash your hair and let it sit and work its magic for a few minutes before rinsing out. It's also a good idea to add weekly masks and treatments to your hair care regimen – try the L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil range. And when you can, treat yourself to the occasional in-salon hydration treatment.

Blot your hair after a shower

Your drying technique plays a huge role in whether your hair comes out frizzier than normal. Avoid vigorously rubbing your hair with a towel in an attempt to dry it faster as this action is more likely to cause breakage and therefore more flyaways. Instead, try using a microfibre towel or an even old t-shirt instead, and lightly blot your locks to remove excess water.

Use blow-dry cream

Heat styling causes hair breakage, which in turn results in frizz – so it's ideal to keep heat styling to a minimum. However, on the odd day when you need to blow-dry or straighten your hair, it's vital to safeguard your delicate hair fibres by implementing correct straightening technique and using a heat protectant product. L'Oréal Professionnel's Mythic Oil Creme Universelle will shield your locks from damage as you heat style as well as nourish it so that it looks and feels soft, smooth and polished.

Apply hair serum or hairspray

Even if you've followed the above steps to a T, there will still be times when the odd flyaway is unavoidable. To get those runaway strands under control, a finishing product like a smoothing serum or hairspray is the perfect final touch. Simply spot apply for a perfectly sleek mane.

Try out the wet look

If you're really struggling to get those flyaways underwraps, a trendy alternative is to try a wet-look style. This finish has been hugely popular on the recent runways and it's also the perfect antidote to frizz. Try using a spray like Wet Domination Shower Shine Spray to smooth down flyaways while also giving you that high shine wet-look finish.
