It seems like bigger is better when it comes to hair accessories on the runway this year – but which do you prefer, a big bow or an oversized jewelled hair clip?
The big bow might have been a favourite with designers like Marchesa and Tory Burch this year, but that doesn't mean they will suit everyone. If you are going to brave the bow, try to keep the rest of your hair a little 'undone,' as a slick hairstyle might leave you looking like a severe school marm! This accessory du jour can be sported on the front of your head over loose hair, or at the base securing a ponytail or plait in place. Be careful with the colour of your bow, lighter, brighter colours can sometimes make the user look much younger than they intended. If you are just trying this style for the first time, black is a safe colour to experiment with.
Oversized Jewelled Hair Clips
Unlike the big bow, jewelled hair clips are the perfect choice to pair with a slicked back 'do! You want to let the jewels do the talking without being swamped by your luscious locks, so try to go for swept back styles. If you are putting the clip to one side of your head, try pulling your hair to the other side so your look stays balanced. For beginners, try an oversized clip in a similar colour to your hair – rose and yellow golds for lighter hair, greys and titanium colours for darker shades.
