60s Baby Doll Waves: Big Texture + Retro Charm

For a retro 'femme fatale' look, sophisticated and a little dangerous, long hair has an option that other lengths don't: the wild baby doll look. Let's explore this sixties-inspired classic.

The wild baby doll: part of the landscape of our minds

Tousled twisted locks give this look its wild character, reminiscent of seventies hippie chic. The wild baby doll is a style that even after half a century, we still can't get enough of.

The style for a starlet of a thousand faces

'Round, narrow and long faces can easily wear this feminine and wild style, whatever their hair colour. Hair just needs to be thick enough to bring some form to the style,' advises Delphine Courteille, hairstylist for L'Oréal Professionnel.

A natural look through lots of work

Although the words 'wild' and 'tousled' may sound easy and natural, this isn't quite the case. To get this look right, Delphine notes there are several steps to carefully follow. Hair should first be textured with a mousse, then relaxed waves added using a curling iron. Next, the ensemble needs to be softened and fixed in place. These critical steps need an expert hand: it's best you take yourself down to the salon to take a walk on the wild side!
